Yin Yoga is a meditative journey of the heart.
Where Hatha yoga involves a lot of movement and the intent is to create heat and strengthen the body, Yin Yoga is passive with the intention to learn to be with stillness. Yin Yoga is comforting and offers space for inward reflection and passive receptivity.
We move into a pose, we breathe in the shape, then allow the body to become still. The mind follows the body and the emotions follow the mind as you are drawn inward.
All poses are done on the floor and held for longer periods of time. Yin Yoga is meditative in that the breath is very rhythmic and calm. Props are available in yin yoga to support the body and any body type making Yin Yoga accessible to any body.
